The Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia affirms the sanctity of life through leadership, service to those making the choice for life, and witness to a culture of love.
Our beliefs, expressed through the work of our member organizations, are incarnated in a variety of ways: in the context of the family and through service to those who are in need of help as they make the choice for life; through sharing by way of education and outreach; and through Culture of Life attitudes toward public policy at the local, state and federal level.
We believe that through the grace of Almighty God and through our good stewardship our culture will be transformed and so we serve in a spirit of hope.
We believe in the sanctity of all human life, from the moment of conception until the moment of natural death.
We believe that there is a need for prophetic voices within the institutions of our area and in the community at large, voices that speak the truth with love on behalf of marriage, family, and the rights of children.
We believe that it is essential for those who take up the work of the pro-life movement to remain united in our vision and strategy so that our mission is realized in every generation and that we treat all people with honor and respect.
- We believe that building strategic relationships with leaders in government, religious institutions, community organizations and the business community is essential to our mission.
Your support of the Pro-Life Union enables us to support initiatives and member organizations active across our areas of activity in alternatives, education and outreach, and public policy.
The Pro-life Union assists those in need as they make the choice for life. Our maternity home, Guiding Star Ministries offers housing, referrals and support to pregnant women and their children. Guiding Star is a tangible expression of our commitment to life. We also answer a local pregnancy hotline meeting the needs of our callers with emotional help, guidance and referrals to pregnancy centers and medical resources. We encounter mothers who are considering abortion, through our pregnancy hotline and also while sidewalk counseling at abortion facilities. We offer emotional, material and spiritual support to women and families.
Education & Outreach
The Pro Life Union is committed to educating the community about the sanctity of life through brochures, materials and monthly newsletter. We host Sidewalk Counseling Training to equip people with information to share in encounters with women considering abortion. We maintain, organize and publish a listing of the area’s alternatives to abortion network. We coordinate outreach activities at area abortion facilities and work with the local 40 Days for Life Campaigns. We sponsor public events to raise awareness about abortion and human dignity. Our Memorial Cross Program continues to reach the community as a reminder of the reality of abortion. The Pro-Life Union is honored to host the annual Stand Up for Life Dinner which is the largest pro-life event in our area.
We believe that building strategic relationships with leaders in government, religious institutions, community organizations and the business community is essential to building a Culture of Life. We advocate for the unborn and their mothers on a local and statewide level. Our efforts have centered on encouraging public officials to enforce legislation so that women and children are protected from the abortion industry. We are fortunate to partner with local pro-life groups.
