Guiding Star Ministries
Guiding Star is a maternity home located in Philadelphia, PA providing independent housing & trauma-informed care to single moms. The program offers case management, counseling, parenting education, life skills, material resources, and social support to promote independence.
Our aim is for every resident to build a solid foundation of faith and responsibility to help them become successful.
OUR MISSION
Guiding Star Ministries (GSM) Maternity Home provides shelter and assistance to pregnant women and their children. The staff and residents of GSM strive to work together to create a beautiful home and a welcoming community.
We foster an atmosphere in which each person is genuinely loved and supported in order that they may thrive both in our home and beyond. To accomplish this, we offer practical and material assistance as well as spiritual and emotional support to empower mothers and their children, enabling them to cultivate meaningful relationships, develop life skills and achieve their goals.

The vision of Guiding Star Ministries is to help our residents to become independent while developing discipline, responsibility and the work ethic needed to become productive members of society.

OUR DIFFERENCE
We house six to seven mothers and their children at a time, which allows us to build solid relationships with the families who enter our home. The residents may stay up to 18 months and work towards educational or vocational goals. Since 1992, we have striven to make Guiding Star an ideal program for women seeking to make a better life for themselves and their children.
PROGRAM
Since 1992, we have served more than 250 women, their more than 165 children, and we have welcomed more than 66 babies.

Guiding Star Ministries is a home for pregnant women and their children 5 years old and younger who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
